Borussia Dortmund have been credited with an interest in Leeds star Raphinha, according to Eurosport.

The Lowdown: Raphinha’s impressive season

It’s safe to say now that the Whites struck gold with their £17m move for the Brazilian back in October.

Leeds sealed a deal on deadline day, and Raphinha was one of the standout performers under Marcelo Bielsa in an impressive first season back in the Premier League.

The 24-year-old scored six times and registered six assists in 30 league appearances, ending the campaign as Leeds’ best-rated performer, as per WhoScored.

It appears that his displays have caught the eye abroad, with the summer transfer window set to open over the next few weeks.

The Latest: Dortmund’s interest

According to Eurosport, German giants Dortmund have made tentative enquiries to sign Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi as they seek replacements in case Jadon Sancho departs.

The report adds that the former Champions League winners could explore deals for Lille’s Jonathan Ikone and Raphinha as alternatives.

Raphinha, who former Elland Road man Noel Whelan described as ‘sensational’, is under contract at Elland Road until 2024.

The Verdict: Whites should be under no pressure to sell

In our opinion, unless a mega-money offer comes in from Dortmund, the Whites should dismiss all interest in the winger.

Only five players in the Premier League registered more assists than the Brazilian last season. He started just 26 league games, so that tally could have been a lot more if he signed prior to the start of the campaign.

Leeds will be looking to improve on their 9th place finish next year, and to do that, you’d expect keeping hold of their prized assets will be crucial.

It just goes to show the impact he’s had in Yorkshire for Dortmund to show an interest, but hopefully, a deal won’t materialise.

If there was one positive to take from this horrendous and arduous slog of a season for Celtic, it would be David Turnbull.

The midfielder was a breath of fresh air to the Parkhead side this term, creating and scoring goals on a regular basis for the Hoops.

The Bhoys didn’t get a lot of their recruitment right last season but Turnbull has turned into Nick Hammond’s best parting gift. Celtic’s head honcho on the recruitment operations resigned in March of this year but he should take comfort from Turnbull’s progression.

After arriving from Motherwell, the 21-year-old has been nothing short of fantastic. He won Celtic’s Player of the Season award and was nominated for the Scottish Young Player gong as well. It was unsurprising, then, that Steve Clarke named him in Scotland’s squad for the upcoming European Championship.

A similar player who didn’t quite make the cut was Ryan Gauld. Once of Dundee United, he took the brave plunge of moving to Sporting Lisbon as a teenager.

Now aged 25, he has developed into a bright talent as he begins to approach his prime years. He contributed to 16 goals this term for Farense, form which has earned claims for him to move to Celtic.

If he does come back to Scotland, he could create a mouth-watering partnership with Turnbull by moving to Parkhead. The duo are capable of playing out wide or in the middle and have very similar qualities.

There were just two goal involvements between the two promising Scottish talents, while their more intricate statistics are almost dead level as well. Throughout the 2020/21 campaign, Turnbull provided 2.2 shots and 2.7 key passes per game – in comparison, Gauld registered 2.4 shots and 2.3 key passes per outing.

The area where the Celtic target comes out on top is dribbles per game. Gauld has particularly tricky feet, something that’s been widely praised.

Hailed as a “complete” player by Farense head coach, Sergio Vieira, he also commented: “When I compare Ryan to the average Brazilian player, I think he has more.

“I know that because I coached in Brazil’s first division for three years. I can strongly say that Ryan is a top player even when compared to the best in Brazil.”

That’s some praise for a player who hails from a nation which doesn’t always produce the most technical of players.

Gauld has proven to be a trailblazer for young Scottish footballers but it’s time for him to come back to his home nation. His qualities combined with Turnbull’s could revive Celtic’s forward line.

Fulham manager Scott Parker is attracting interest from one of the Cottagers’ Championship rivals this summer.

That’s according to a report by The Sun, who claim that the Bournemouth hierarchy are contemplating parting company with their incumbent manager, Jonathan Woodgate, in the coming months, with Parker lined up as a potential replacement for the 41-year-old.

It is reported that the Bournemouth bosses are far from happy with Woodgate’s failure to achieve promotion through the play-offs, with the Fulham manager seen as an alternative who could go one better than the former Leeds United defender at the Vitality Stadium next term.

Khan must not allow Parker’s exit

Despite Fulham’s relegation from the Premier League last season, Parker has demonstrated in his time at Craven Cottage that he is more than deserving enough to have a shot at getting the Cottagers back to the top flight of English football next term.

Over his 105 fixtures in charge of the club, the 40-year-old has overseen 37 victories, 25 draws and 43 losses, picking up an average of 1.3 points per game – a decent record considering he took over an all-but-relegated Fulham side in the club’s 2018/19 Premier League campaign.

And, having guided Fulham back to the top flight at the first time of asking in the 2019/20 season, as well as earning plaudits for installing an eye-catching brand of football in west London, if Shahid Khan were to allow one of Fulham’s potential promotion rivals to poach the promising manager this summer it would easily go down as being one of the Fulham owners’ biggest mistakes throughout his tenure at the club.

Indeed, it has been reported that Parker’s future at the club is shrouded in doubt as Khan felt let down by the manager’s comments regarding Fulham’s transfer business last season, with the owner thought to be considering pulling the trigger on Parker’s sacking this summer.

However, this would more than likely be a decision that Fulham fans would simply not forgive Khan for, as the Cottagers very much appear to be a club on the up under the former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder.
