Edinson Cavani’s future at Manchester United looks increasingly uncertain by the day.

Out of contract at the end of the season, but with the option of an extra year, it is reported that he is considering quitting Old Trafford, with his father also indicating that there is a “60 per cent” chance that the striker could leave at the end of the campaign.

Now, Uruguay assistant coach Mario Rebollo has waded into the argument, suggesting that Cavani must leave Manchester United for the good of the national team.

Whatever the 34-year-old’s decision, whether that be to remain at the club or indeed depart, he needs to make it soon as it could have massive implications on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s plans.

Should he elect to depart, this could potentially force the Red Devils back into the transfer market for a forward even though the likes of Mason Greenwood, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford are capable of playing through the centre.

With Cavani having struck seven goals and notched two assists in his time at Old Trafford since his arrival from Paris Saint Germain, Solskjaer is likely to want a forward who can have a similar impact.

That is not going to come cheap though, with any striker, unless they are a free agent, surely set to cost more than Cavani’s £6.3m valuation.

Any move could significantly reduce the Red Devils’ summer transfer budget, with then consequent moves for other areas impacted with United potentially having less funds available.

However, should Cavani stay, this could mean that United could look at somewhat more illustrious and costly targets without the need to bring in another striker.

Whilst the Uruguayan will certainly be making his decision for the good of his career, the longer he takes over who is next employers are will only exacerbate the uncertainty at Old Trafford.

Former Celtic striker Frank McAvennie has exclusively told Football FanCast that Rangers and director of football Ross Wilson should decide against purchasing Bongani Zungu on a permanent basis.

Following his arrival on a season-long loan from French outfit Amiens on Deadline Day, the two clubs agreed an option to buy should Rangers opt to sign the South African permanently.

But with an abundance of top centre-midfielders in their squad, Zungu has struggled for opportunities under Steven Gerrard.

Having been an unused substitute for Sunday’s Old Firm derby, Zungu has played just one minute in Rangers’ previous five Scottish Premiership matches, although his breach of Covid-19 which saw him miss two games, certainly didn’t help.

Reports have suggested that the champions would have to pay Amiens £2.7million to sign the midfielder permanently, but McAvennie believes that fee would be too steep for a squad player.

He told Football FanCast: “The boy’s a talent. It depends on the money they want. Rangers have got an abundance of midfield players. £2.7million is a lot of money for someone that’s not going to play every week.

“He’s a good player, but when you’ve got Davis, Jack, Aribo, Kent and Kamara, they’ve got loads of midfielders. He’s done the job, he’s come in, got a winners medal. Whether he signs or not, he’s done what he came for.”

وأتم: “سيد عبد الحفيظ عاقب ياسر إبراهيم بشكل رسمي، ليس بسبب المشاجرة ولكن بسبب مغادرته للمران دون إذن، وان ما حدث بين ياسر ووليد نرفزة ملعب وهو امر طبيعي يحدث في كل الفرق”.

Os ânimos de Caíque e Marinho ficaram exaltados durante a partida entre Vitória e Atlético-MG na última quarta-feira, no Independência, pela 23ª rodada do Campeonato Brasileiro. No primeiro tempo do jogo, o atacante rubro-negro desperdiçou a oportunidade de balançar as redes ao ficar cara a cara com o goleiro da equipe mineira e tentar uma cavadinha. Logo na sequência, o Galo abriu o placar com Fred. No intervalo, Caíque foi até Marinho para “tomar satisfação” sobre o lance [confira a confusão no vídeo abaixo]. Foi preciso separar os dois jogadores para que o embate não se transformasse em agressão.

Assim como fizeram os seus companheiros de Leão, o zagueiro Kanu endossou o coro e reprovou a briga entre o goleiro Caíque e o atacante Marinho, no intervalo da partida com o Atlético-MG. O Vitória acabou derrotado por 2 a 1, com dois gols de Fred.

– Somos amigos. Todos somos amigos. Caíque está sempre com Marinho. Estava no quarto depois do jogo. Só foi no jogo mesmo. Faz parte. Todo mundo quer ganhar. A “briga” envolvendo os dois começou com uma finalização desperdiçada por Marinho, ainda no primeiro tempo. No minuto seguinte, saiu o gol do Atlético. Na saída para o intervalo, o arqueiro foi tirar satisfação com Marinho. Eles só não partiram para a agressão física pois foram impedidos pelos colegas de time.

Por fim, Kanu buscou não culpar o colega pelo gol perdido.

– É o jogo, todo mundo de cabeça quente. Marinho achou que tinha que fazer aquilo. Então acontece. Marinho já ajudou a gente para caramba, em vários jogos. Tem qualidade e toda a confiança. Claro que Caíque também se exaltou um pouco, mas é do jogo. Eles já se entenderam, então está tudo bem. Eles até estão juntos, viemos todos conversando na viagem. Faz parte do trabalho- completou.

Celtic are getting ready to witness considerable change at Parkhead this summer. The Bhoys have already seen Neil Lennon leave and thus, they’ll need to find a replacement from somewhere.

Peter Lawwell is set to retire at the end of the season with Dominic McKay succeeding him as CEO.

A further appointment could be a new director of football where Fergal Harkin has long been touted to join Celtic. He is set to come into the fray over Nick Hammond.

The 53-year-old left his role as Head of Football Operations on Wednesday evening, departing a role he’s held since 2019.

Hammond has done his job at Celtic with varying degrees of success. In charge of the club’s transfer strategy, he’s concluded some rather abject deals.

He was the man to fork out £4.5m on Vasilis Barkas, a goalkeeper who has been rather error-prone since moving from AEK Athens.

Hammond also spent £5m on Albian Ajeti. The Swiss forward has scored just six times since his arrival at Paradise from West Ham United last summer.

You also have to question moves for players like Patryk Klimala and Shane Duffy. The former has only three goals all season while Duffy has been rather inconsistent after arriving on loan.

Hammond has had some triumphs though; mainly with a deal to bring David Turnbull to Paradise.

The former Motherwell midfielder has been a breath of fresh air, proving to be one of the very few positives from an arduous season where they lost their grasp on the Scottish Premiership.

Alongside Ismaila Soro, they have provided reasons to be positive about the future of the Celtic squad. However, despite the Ivorian’s combative displays in the middle of the park, it’s Turnbull who should go down as Hammond’s best parting gift.

The Scot has had an outstanding campaign playing either out wide or just behind the striker. Amazingly, he wasn’t called up to the Scotland squad for the latest round of fixtures but it only feels like a matter of time before he’s in the national side.

After all, Turnbull has registered eight goals and six assists this term, an eye-catching number for someone who hasn’t exactly played in a team that’s thriving this season.

Lennon was able to extract the very best from him and in a campaign where not a lot has gone right, he’s been a shining light. His numbers eclipse many of those at Parkhead too.

The 21-year-old has made 90 key passes this term at a rate of 2.7 per game, a tally that surpasses every player in the squad. Turnbull’s 2.2 shots per game, meanwhile, are only fewer than Odsonne Edouard and Ryan Christie.

Words from Owen Coyle last month typify exactly the impression he’s made since signing.

He told The Scottish Mail on Sunday (14/03, pg 152): “His physical attributes are there. He’s got an unbelievable engine, he goes box-to-box, covers the ground. He’s a team player who works his socks off. I think he’s a manager’s dream.”

The phrase manager’s dream explains exactly why he’s been such a hit in Glasgow. Turnbull should go down as one of Hammond’s finest investments.
