No fim do ano, no auge dos atritos entre o presidente do Verdão, Paulo Nobre, e a presidente da Crefisa, Leila Pereira, a obra parou e os parceiros iriam discutir a confecção de um contrato à parte para a reforma. Com a renovação e a volta da boa relação, a ideia não avançou. A avaliação é que a quantia atual é suficiente para o novo CT e até na busca de futuras contratações.

Só a obra custaria cerca de R$ 8 milhões.O novo contrato de patrocínio, válido até o fim do ano, prevê o aporte de R$ 66 milhões para que Crefisa e FAM estampem suas marcas na camisa, shorts e meião palmeirense – no vínculo anterior, a empresa investia R$ 43 milhões para aparecer só na camisa.

Mesmo que os patrocinadores não banquem mais a obra, um engenheiro ligado à FAM mantém contato com os responsáveis e troca informações quando necessário. Ainda que a reforma tenha caminhado bem em 2015, não há prazo para que a nova Academia fique pronta.

Além dos R$ 66 milhões pagos pelo uniforme, Crefisa e FAM despejarão mais R$ 12 milhões nos cofres do clube: esse valor segue para bancar o atacante Lucas Barrios, que tem todos os custos pagos pelas patrocinadoras. As parceiras ainda assumiram os custos da compra do zagueiro Vitor Hugo, de quase R$ 6 milhões. Deste valor, R$ 1,3 milhão serão pagos em 2016. O orçamento do clube prevê aporte mensal pouco acima dos R$ 109 mil.

According to Club Doria, Spurs boss Jose Mourinho is keen on signing Sampdoria sensation Mikkel Damsgaard with the north London outfit expected to bid ‘at any moment.’

There are also claims that his impressive performances this season has attracted Italian giants Inter Milan and Juventus.

Another Bergwijn?

Indeed, the young Dane has been one of the Claudio Rainieri’s star performers since his 50m kroner (£4.5m) move from FC Nordsjælland in the summer as he ranks fifth for average rating (6.78) of any player to start at least ten times.

Damsgaard has contributed two goals and three assists in 18 appearances, per WhoScored.

Whilst no other player in the I Blucerchiati squad is averaging more than his three dribbles per 90 minutes. He successfully pulls these off at a rate of 62.5%, which means more often than not, he beats his man.

It’s no wonder that PL-winning boss Rainieri tipped him to have a “big future.”

As we’ve seen with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Bergwijn, Mourinho loves a relentless workhorse and the Danish starlet would bring that as well as an extra creative influence in the attack, as evident throughout this piece.

For just £18m, Daniel Levy could well secure Spurs another Bergwijn-like beast.

Journalist Alan Nixon has recently issued an update about Rangers’ interest in Preston North End’s Ben Davies.

While Football Insider had recently stated that Rangers had made a ‘significant’ offer to sign Davies on a pre-contract basis in the summer, Nixon has claimed the complete opposite about the Preston defender and his links with a move to Ibrox.

Rangers yet to make Davies offer

Alan Nixon tweeted about Rangers’ interest in Davies when a fan asked him about the player’s situation. He revealed “there’s no Rangers pre contract offer for Davies”, despite claims from Football Insider that an offer has been made.

It has also been stated that Rangers are competing with their Old Firm rivals and English clubs for Davies’ signature.

Davies has made 16 Championship appearances for Preston this season, coming up with one assist so far. All of his appearances have come from the centre-back position this season (as per Transfermarkt).

The 25-year-old is currently valued at £2.16m by Transfermarkt and he has been described as a player who is comfortable on the ball and confident in the air.

Davies could be a good signing for Rangers

With Nikola Katic injured and George Edmundson seemingly on the way out, Steven Gerrard only has three centre-back options in the team – Leon Balogun, Filip Helander and Conor Goldson.

Davies would add depth and ability to that position and his versatility – he can play either centre-back role or at left-back – would also be an extra reason why the Ibrox side would benefit from signing him.

Liverpool are reportedly trying to complete deals for two central defenders on transfer deadline day with the club desperately in need of bolstering their ranks.

What’s the word?

The Reds have already agreed a deal to sign Preston defender Ben Davies on deadline day but they are seemingly attempting to wrap up one more transfer.

Numerous defenders have been linked including Marseille’s Duje Caleta-Car and Arsenal’s Shkodran Mustafi.

However, a new player has now emerged on their radar. That happens to be Schalke’s Ozan Kabak.

Sky Sports report that Liverpool are working on a loan to buy offer for the seven-cap Turkey international. Michael Edwards faces a race against time to complete a move, though, with the German transfer window closing at 5pm and Schalke seemingly unwilling to let him leave without securing a replacement.

Preparations are underway for a medical to take place in Germany if a deal can be concluded.

Forget Mustafi

With Liverpool eyeing a move for Arsenal’s error-prone defender, they must forget all about that deal and seal a move for Kabak instead.

He is a stalwart of a defender, one who could add a great deal to Jurgen Klopp’s squad.

After winning the Bundesliga’s Rookie of the Year, a few years ago, Stuttgart sporting director Michael Reschke said he was “one of the most promising young defenders in Europe.”

Indeed, the player looks up to Liverpool star Virgil van Dijk so he’s certainly taking influence from the right type of player.

The Reds have had to rely on young or inexperienced players like Nat Phillips and Rhys Williams at times this season so it’s refreshing to hear of Kabak’s maturity levels. Thomas Hitzlersperger once commented: “It’s incredible how worldy-wise he is for his age. It’s astonishing. I see him every day and am amazed at how he mature he is.”

Despite being just 20, he appears to fit the bill for Liverpool. A quick look at the stats show that the £34k-per-week youngster is imperious in the air, winning 4.1 aerial duels per match this season. That’s a tally that usurps every Liverpool player to have started five games or more in 2020/21.

It looks like Klopp is keen to get another central defender in as well as Davies and Kabak is a much better option than Mustafi so the Schalke man must be the player to get in today.
