A assembleia geral da CBF aprovou nesta terça-feira a realização da Primeira Liga, competição organizada pela Liga Sul-Minas-Rio, por unanimidade. Mas a euforia tem que ser segurada. Os dirigentes pontuaram que a disputa deverá seguir requisitos estatutários já definidos, como, por exemplo, que os participantes sigam um critério técnico de participação. Até Rubens Lopes, presidente da Ferj, votou a favor, mas dentro dos critérios de legalidade.

– A CBF não se opõe à realização. Tem que acontecer como na Copa Verde e na Copa do Nordeste. Se existe alguma disposição, tem que ter todos os entes envolvidos. Tem que respeitar a disciplina do futebol, os estatutos, ordenamento jurídico, direito dos atletas e calendário nacional -disse o secretário-geral da CBF, Walter Feldman.

Feldman reforçou o argumento citando Alexandre Kalil, CEO da Liga, que disse que a relação com a CBF estava cortada:

– O CEO da Liga, Kalil disse que num momento nervoso daria um jeito na lei. Mas não dá para ser assim. A lei tem que ser respeitada por todos.

Uma das mudanças que podem ocorrer na competição mediante à adaptação aos requisitos é a entrada do Espírito Santo na competição. Com o entendimento de que é um estado da mesma região que os outros da Sul-Minas-Rio, o presidente da federação local reforçou o desejo de participar da disputa.

– Vamos aguardar as adequações. Acreditamos que é uma liga Sul-Sudeste, fazemos parte do Sudeste. Esse pleito não foi levado para a assembleia porque não estava na pauta – disse Gustavo Vieira.

O posicionamento da Liga é que, do ponto de vista da Lei Pelé, em especial os artigos 16 a 20, que tratam das ligas, o cumprimento está garantido. Além disso, a Sul-Minas-Rio considera a assembleia geral da CBF nula, porque os clubes não foram convocados. Por fim, a Liga garante que está pronta para ser organizada independentemente de CBF e federações, e já tem estruturada a parte de arbitragem, justiça desportiva e doping.

Key information about Meadow Park

Meadow Park was opened in 1963 and it now houses National League’s Boreham Wood FC. The ground is located in Borehamwood in Hertfordshire and interestingly, it’s also the home of Arsenal Women FC, Arsenal youth teams as well as the Watford Reserves.

Its current capacity stands at 4,500 – with only 500 of those being seated places – and it has a pitch that measures 110 by 77 yards. The surface of the field is covered with grass while the stadium doesn’t have a running track surrounding it nor undersoil heating installed at this very moment.

The record attendance of 4,030 fans at Meadow Park was set during a friendly game between Boreham Wood and Arsenal on 13 July 2001.

A history of Meadow Park

Even though Meadow Park’s history goes all the way back to 1963, not much is known about the ground, especially when it comes to its early days. What we do know is that Boreham Wood were playing their football over at Eldon Avenue before moving into their new home in Borehamwood in Hertfordshire.

And shortly after the club’s arrival, redevelopments started and Meadow Park would get improved over the years. The first of many changes was done immediately after Boreham Wood settled there as they erected a new main stand which had a substantial sloping roof. That, however, would subsequently get demolished in 1999 to make way for a new cantilever stand that could house up to 600 fans

On the opposite side of the new stand there is a covered terrace which has also been updated over the years. The two ends, however, are still uncovered but are also well terraced and have crush barriers promptly installed.

Interestingly enough, in 2014, Boreham Wood opened a brand new £550,000 West Stand during a clash with Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal. The stand also runs the full length of the Meadow Park pitch and has replaced the old asbestos-filled structure, further boosting the ground’s capacity by an additional 1,420 seats.

More recently, there were also further redevelopments done at the stadium along with the construction of a new covered terrace at the North End of the stadium, called North Bank. The terrace was opened in 2019, replacing the former one which was still open. Although it’s not exactly massive in size, it does give the stadium a more modern look alongside the now modern-looking Main and West Stands.

The ground also has tall slender floodlight pylons, which is essentially a telephone mast in the South East corner of the stadium. Apart from that, there is also a small club shop and on top of it is an electronic scoreboard.

Interestingly enough, Meadow Park is also used by Arsenal Women FC, Arsenal’s youth teams and the Watford Reserve squad.

أعرب فيل فودين لاعب مانشستر سيتي، عن سعادته بالتعادل مع ليفربول، خلال المباراة التي جمعت بينهما ضمن الجولة السابعة من الدوري الإنجليزي الممتاز.

انتهت مباراة ليفربول ومانشستر سيتي بالتعادل 2/2 في المباراة التي جمعت بينهما على ملعب أنفيلد رود، والتي شهدت تسجيل محمد صلاح هدفًا وصناعة آخر “طالع تقرير المباراة”.

وقال فودين في تصريحات لشبكة “BBC” البريطانية: “سعيد حقًا بالنتيجة، ربما في يوم آخر كان بإمكاننا الحصول على النقاط الثلاث، لكنني سعيد لأننا لم نخسر اليوم”.

وأضاف: “نعلم أننا ضد ليفربول يجب أن نحافظ على تركيزنا بنسبة 100٪، وفي حالة عدم التركيز لحظة واحدة، يمكنهم التسجيل، وهذا ما حدث، لكننا كنا نقاتل جيدًا في كل مرة تأخرنا فيها”.

What’s the word?

According to Corriere dello Sport (via Sport Witness), the French powerhouse appears to be the top target for Serie A outfit Inter Milan this summer as a move for Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante is rather unachievable.

It’s claimed that the Italians will have to sell some of their current squad in order to fund a move for Spurs’ club-record £55m star with both Marcelo Brozovic and Milan Skriniar likely to be sacrificed.

Earlier in the year, Ndombele was also linked to La Liga giants Barcelona amid reports he had fallen out with Jose Mourinho, as per the Independent.

Another Levy failure

It seems quite absurd that a midfielder who arrived with so much potential has caused such a scenario as this. It’s through no fault of his own, though.

The club knew what they were getting with him; medical was completed with no hitches. A change of manager wouldn’t have helped matters either, do we truly know if Mourinho wants him as a start?

Therefore, it all boils down to Levy splashing that club-record fee on him, putting the pressure at his feet from day one. This one can be filed alongside his failure to bring in another striker as well as his moves for Ryan Sessegnon and Jack Clarke, who both have rarely featured in north London.

Since the 23-year-old joined on the 2nd of July last year, Spurs have blown around £66m from his transfer fee to reported £200k-per-week wages.

Ndombele has averaged just 49.8 minutes per appearance this season and started only 12 of their 38 Premier League matches, via Transfermarkt.

Whether Levy looks to cut ties with his mistake remains to be seen, but there’s hope that the Spurs outcast can thrive next season following the introduction of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

What is certain, however, is this situation is only going to drag on and on.

According to Corriere dello Sport (via Sport Witness), AS Roma have rejected bids of €50m (£45m) from several teams, one of which are Spurs and have claimed that another €10-20m (£9-18m) will be needed in order to secure his signature.

There’s also a suggestion that the Serie A club’s owners have taken the Italian playmaker off the market unless their valuation is met.

Juventus, Borussia Dortmund and Barcelona are the other interested parties.

Shades of Lampard

Zaniolo is one of Europe’s hottest talents right now having picked up five caps already by the age of 21 whilst domestically this season alone, he’s provided eight goals and four assists.

The versatile all-rounded midfielder also averaged 2.3 dribbles, 1.7 shots and one key pass per appearance across the Europa League and the Serie A, via WhoScored.

He’s able to play in both the number eight and number ten role as well as out wide, so it’s no surprise to see him likened to some pretty outstanding legends of the Premier League – one who Mourinho has managed before.

Ex-Inter head coach Stefano Vecchi dubbed him a “modern mezzala” before describing him as a “[Steven] Gerrard, [Frank] Lampard-type” during an interview with Goal.

Such endorsements are intensified by Roma hero Francesco Totti, who said: “He has explosive strength and technique, and everything it takes to become a truly great player.”

€60m (£55m) is a lot of money in this current transfer market, but if Levy can pull out all the stops, then there’s no denying that the north Londoners would be getting a generational talent.

Just look at Lampard’s impact under Mourinho all those years ago, he could well land himself a similar player who could transform their underperforming midfield.
