Charlton meet Sunderland at Wembley Stadium this weekend where both sides will be playing for promotion to the Championship via the play-off final – in football, the stakes don’t get much higher than this.

The Addicks were cruising in the weeks leading up to their semi-final clash with Doncaster Rovers but Grant McCann’s side ensured the match, which Charlton eventually won on penalties, went right down to the wire.

Well, according to The Evening Standard, Charlton are sweating over Igor Vetokele’s fitness, with the striker losing his race against time to recover from a thigh injury before Sunday.

The speedster had forged a formidable partnership with top-scorer Lyle Taylor after Karlan Grant departed for Huddersfield in January and had scored twice in the three games prior to his setback.

The 27-year-old has chalked up five goals and five assists in 25 appearances across all competitions this season and offers crucial pace on the counter for Charlton, who could instead be forced to rely on Josh Parker even though he has yet to score for the club since arriving at The Valley in January.

Parker’s time to shine

If there’s ever a time to get your first goal in your new team’s colours, it’s in the play-off final at Wembley Stadium – if Parker nets against the Black Cats, he will go down in history despite a forgettable four months at Charlton so far.

Fortunately, the 27-year-old is blessed with pace and he will run himself into the ground for the team but the Addicks will likely miss the in-form Vetokele regardless.

Bowyer and his staff will be hoping that the Belgian-born Angolan can return to fitness just in time; if not, Parker will be looking to become Charlton’s hero.

Joe Worrall’s Ibrox days have come to an end. That much is a fact and the Gers will have mixed feelings about his time at the club. His form has certainly been up and down, and the negative points are a lot easier to pick out. However, as he leaves, a new man will have to come in, and according to Football Insider, that man could be John Souttar.

The Hearts defender is going to be leaving Tynecastle Park after a three and a half year stint with the Jam Tarts, and after first making the step up from Dundee United to Hearts, he’s now set to make yet another step up in the domestic scene in Scotland to sign for Steven Gerrard’s Rangers. The Gers will be fighting off interest from Derby County for the 22-year-old’s signature, and it would be a good move.

Not only does Joe Worrall need replacing, but the experienced and mostly unused defender Gareth McAuley will also be leaving Ibrox this summer at the end of his one-year deal with the Bluenoses, leaving yet another gap at the back that Stevie G needs to fill. That’s where Souttar would come in, as a replacement to fill the place of both of the departing defenders, and he’s more than capable of doing so.

The young centre-half has impressed at Hearts and has a Transfermarkt valuation of just £1.13 million, so if Gerrard is to fork out on the impressive youngster then it shouldn’t set the Ibrox club back too much either. In the report from Football Insider, it also claims that George Edmunson could also be set to come in at Ibrox, which would make a smart pairing that could last for years to come.

Arthur Masuaku and Aaron Cresswell are both set to stay at West Ham United this summer, per ClaretandHugh.

What’s the word?

Reports have suggested that the Hammers could potentially cash in on one of their left-backs this summer, with Cresswell linked with a move to Everton.

However, it now appears that such a deal will not be in the offing.

Manuel Pellegrini, per the report, believes that he has no reason to buy another left-back and has no desire to sell either player this summer.

Masuaku has made the spot his own this season, making a total of 27 appearances in all competitions; his teammate had 20 outings for the Irons.

The players have a mountain of experience to call on; they have appeared a total of 254 times for the club between them.

A sensible decision

The reports of Cresswell potentially leaving were rather bizarre but keeping both makes sense.

The Hammers have deficiencies in a number of areas – they need a new striker and a couple of midfielders – and complicating that situation by selling a left-back they would have had to replace wouldn’t have been sensible.

Pellegrini appears to know he is well set in that area, however, and will continue to allow both Cresswell and Masuaku to battle it out for the right to be the club’s first-choice left-back.

Common sense prevails.

يدرك مدرب قادش ألفارو سيرفيرا صعوبة مواجهة برشلونة، غدًا السبت، في إطار منافسات بطولة الدوري الإسباني.

ويلتقي الفريقان في الجولة الثانية عشر من الليجا، في ملعب رامون دي كارازنا الخاص بـ قادش.

وقال ألفارو سيرفيرا، في تصريحات نشرتها صحيفة “ماركا” الإسبانية: “لقد استعدنا معظم الغائبين، ليس الأمر أنهم في أفضل حالاتهم، ولكننا استعدنا اللاعبين، لقد أعددنا للمباراة ضمن ما يمكن الاستعداد له ضد فريق مثل برشلونة”.

Even though Manchester United have been pretty clear with their intentions of keeping Paul Pogba at the club, they do have a contingency plan already established in the case of an emergency, London Evening Standard report.

The plan is to make an effort for Tottenham Hotspur’s Christian Eriksen, who has hinted at his potential departure from the club in a recent talk with Danish publication Ekstrabladet. The Spurs midfielder is well-known to the world and his quality is not really under question. If Manchester United have a genuine chance of making this transfer a reality, they should definitely go for it.

Here are two main reasons why…

Eriksen can match Pogba’s quality

This is a pretty obvious and yet a pretty big argument in this discussion. If Pogba does end up leaving, that would undoubtedly create a massive hole in Manchester United’s squad. Arguably, it would be something extremely difficult to fill at this point and would require a like-for-like replacement in order for it to work. In comes Eriksen – a player who’s brilliant on the ball, a set-piece expert, extremely creative in his approach and also a big-name signing. Even last season, arguably his worst in a Tottenham shirt, produced eight goals and 12 assists in the Premier League.

Of course, no one can guarantee Eriksen would be a success at Old Trafford but if you lose such a big piece like Pogba, it’s safe to presume that you would have to replace him with an equally talented player. The question, however, remains: is Eriksen willing to join United instead of Real Madrid?

Acceptable price and acceptable ego

When talking about such big-name signings, we are usually talking about huge figures that are, more often than not, the biggest problems in the deals going through in the first place. But there’s an exception here with Eriksen, and LES were quick to point it out: the 89-cap Danish playmaker is rapidly approaching the end of his contract, which should decrease Tottenham’s asking price and their overall bargaining power. His current estimated value is at £76.5m as per the Transfermarkt but he could well be landed for less than that.

Another argument which should be made in favour of this move is the “ego problem” the Red Devils’ locker room has been facing. Pogba and Jesse Lingard are as much social media influencers as they are footballers, and Wayne Rooney believes there’s not enough fear for the men in charge. Eriksen, on the other hand, is a much calmer personality and has never really stirred up much trouble for his manager, excepting the current contract situation. A change in that respect would actually suit the club rather well and is definitely one of the reasons why Manchester United should consider making the switch.

Eros Grezda will not be joining up with Rangers for their pre-season training camp in Portugal, according to The Daily Record.

What’s the story?

The Rangers winger has had a difficult time since making the move from NK Osijek to Ibrox last summer.

With injury and fitness issues blighting his season, he didn’t get the first-team action needed to impress and justify his £2m transfer fee.

Most recently he’s had problems at international level too, walking out of the Albanian squad that was to face Iceland and Moldova at the start of June.

Now the winger’s agent has confirmed he won’t be part of Rangers’ preparations for upcoming European qualifiers.

As quoted by The Daily Record, Ives Cakarun said:

“He is still with Rangers but at the moment because he was with the national squad and there was some problems last week he will not be in the squad.

We’ve spoken to the club and at the moment he is still part of Rangers. Let’s see what happens in the window but at the moment there is no news.”

The paper say that he is now edging closer towards an Ibrox exit, with the club willing to listen to offers for the 24-year-old.

Should Rangers get rid?

Grezda made just seven starts last season, which is a poor return considering he was one of the few players that arrived for a transfer fee last summer.

When he did play he rarely impressed too, never really having the cutting edge required to punish opposition defenders on the right flank.

A definitive decision now needs to be made on his future. If he can’t even take part in pre-season training then it’s time to call it quits and get him out the door as soon as possible.

Rangers can’t afford to have unsettled players on their books, both from a financial perspective and a squad harmony one.

All their squad need to be pulling in the same direction if they are to close the gap on Celtic and right now, it doesn’t seem like Grezda is interested in doing that.

وكانت السلطات التنفيذية في فرنسا، قد حددت موعدًا لتخفيف القيود الصحية، مع انتهاء فترة الإغلاق في 15 ديسمبر الجاري.

في الدوري الإنجليزي عاد المشجعون من جديد إلى المدرجات في بعض المدن، ولكن بعدد 2000 مشجع بحد أقصى.
