كشف المدرب الإسباني، بيب جوارديولا، المدير الفني لنادي مانشستر سيتي، موقف سيرجيو أجويرو، من التواجد في مباراة وولفرهامبتون في الدوري الإنجليزي الممتاز.

وستكون المباراة الأولى لـ مانشستر سيتي في البريميرليج يوم الإثنين القادم 21 سبتمبر أمام وولفرهامبتون، على ملعب “مولينو”.

وتحوم الشكوك حول إمكانية تواجد أجويرو في المباراة، الذي خضع لعملية جراحية في الركبة في يونيو الماضي، ولكنه ليس جاهزًا بنسبة 100%.

وقال بيب في المؤتمر الصحفي الخاص بالمباراة: “أجويرو؟ لا، لن يتواجد في المباراة، لم يتواجد في أي جلسة تدريبية معنا”.

وأضاف: “رياض محرز عاد لنا قبل أربعة أيام، واليوم كان أول يوم يعود لنا فيه إيمريك لابورت، وأعتقد أنّ محرز سيكون مُتاحًا لمباراة وولفرهامبتون، لكن لابورت لا”.

وواصل: “نحن جيدين على ما يرام، إنه لمن دواعي سروري العمل مع هؤلاء اللاعبين الرائعين، هُناك توقعات دائمًا للحصول على نتائج جيدة من هذا الفريق، نريد أنّ نواصل تقديم ما أظهرناه في السنوات القليلة الماضية”.

وتابع: “سنخوض مباراة صعبة ضد وولفرهامبتون، على ملعبهم، اللعب في ملعبهم ليس أمرًا سهلًا، ولكن نحن نعلم بالضبط مدى صعوبة الدوري الإنجليزي”.

وأتبع: “كما قلت الأحاسيس والشعور جيدة كالعادة، إنه لمن دواعي سروري التواجد في مانشستر سيتي”.

وعن فيل فودين واستبعاده من إنجلترا: “فيل الآن على ما يرام، وبخير، خلال الأربعة الأيام الماضية كان جيدًا، وهو يعلم إنه ارتكب خطأ”.

وعن العمل مع الصفقات الجديدة، ناثان آكي، وفيران توريس: “حتى الآن أنهما جيدان حقًا، الجميع هُنا يحاول مُساعدتهما، من اجل التأقلم والاستقرار في أسرع وقتٍ ممكن”.

وعن خطط فريقه في الميركاتو الصيفي: “أنا لا أتحدث عن سوق الانتقالات في وسائل الإعلام”.

وأتم تصريحاته قائلًا: “مُنذ اليوم الأول عندما وصلت إلى هُنا، وأنا أكثر من راضٍ عن فريقي، النادي يبذل قصارى جهده من أجلنا، وإذا بقيت مع نفس اللاعبين سأكون سعيدًا، لن أشتكي، ولن أشكو من شيء في المستقبل، أنا شخص محظوظ لكوني في سيتي ولديّ هؤلاء اللاعبين الرائعين”.

Dean Ashton has disagreed with Martin O’Neill’s opinion that Nottingham Forest deserved to take all three points from their 0-0 draw with Preston North End.

Joe Lolley thought that he had scored the winner for Forest in the second half but the referee ruled the goal out due to an alleged foul on goalkeeper Declan Rudd by Ryan Yates.

What’s the word

Forest’s second draw in a week left O’Neill fuming.

The manager, per Lancashire Live, said after the game that “we have been robbed of all three points again”.

However, Ashton, who played over 50 games in the Championship between spells with Norwich City and West Brom, disagreed with O’Neill.

“My first instinct is that it’s a foul by Ryan Yates,” he said, again per Lancashire Live, on Quest’s Football League highlights show.

“I think it’s a free-kick because he doesn’t get any of the ball.

“I think Martin O’Neill just feels a bit sorry for himself.”

Ashton gets it wrong

Ashton, famed as a physical striker during his playing days, has got this one wrong.

Lewis Grabban twisted and turned in the box before shooting low at Rudd, who failed to collect the ball. Yates ran in as the goalkeeper flapped and Lolley, naturally, rolled the ball into the back of the net.

One can see why the referee made his decision but football, at the end of the day, is a contact sport.

This is not to mention that Rudd appeared set to stand up before seeing that Lolley was poised to score, and hit the deck once again.

O’Neill is never one to mince his words, of course, and Forest can indeed count themselves unlucky to have dropped two points.

All attention will be on the referee when they are next in action, against Derby County next week.

ولكن انتقال فيدال إلى إنتر ميلان صاحبه جدلًا واسعًا بالأمس، بسبب وشم على جسمه يخص ناديه السابق يوفنتوس في الفترة من 2011 وحتى رحيله إلى بايرن ميونخ في عام 2015.

بعض جماهير إنتر ميلان لا تشعر بالسعادة من صفقة التعاقد مع فيدال، لأنه لا ينسى فترته مع يوفنتوس من خلال وشم على ذراعه الأيمن يتذكر من خلاله ألقابه مع السيدة العجوز، هؤلاء المشجعون يعتبرون أن هذا الوشم خيانة لهم والبعض الآخر يرى أن على أرتورو نسيان ماضيه مع يوفنتوس.

وتعد فترة فيدال مع يوفنتوس هي من أنجح الفترات التي مر بها في مسيرته الكروية، حيث حصل التشيلي الدولي على 7 ألقاب بقميص الفريق، وبالتالي، تعتبره جماهير يوفنتوس بطلًا وهو ما لم يعجب جماهير إنتر ميلان.

Martin O’Neill’s reign at Nottingham Forest hasn’t really gone off to a bright start. He’s only been able to win two out of his six games and instead of boosting their campaign, he has dropped them off a potential playoffs spot. The time to deliver is quickly approaching for the Northern Irishman.

While the former Aston Villa manager has the reputation to elevate the standards of teams with limited potential, he’s been unable to get the Reds back to their best. Neither has he been able to solve their persistent issues with drawing games. Forest have drawn two games under O’Neill, falling short of victory at the final hurdle in the process.

However, there’s still time for him to redeem Forest’ season heading into the final stretch of the season. Following the Derby County game, the Reds have quite a comfortable schedule till the end, only facing Sheffield United and Middlesbrough among their playoffs rivals.

Most games are against the bottom half of the table, meaning Forest have a comfortable path to showcase their superiority. Chances of a playoffs qualification might be low, but they need to gain some momentum to keep on playing attractive football and entertain fans.

Forest need to be defensively stronger and more clinical going forward while having the ability to absorb pressure and grind out wins.

As their playoffs rival claw away at one another to gain playoffs qualification, O’Neill can help Forest sneak in a playoffs spot if he finds a winning combination soon. So far, he’s fallen short, but it only takes a couple of games to turn things around.

Thoughts?

It was no surprise when a loud cheer came from Goodison Park on Sunday afternoon when the final whistle went for the Merseyside Derby. But, it can’t be just a one-off, Marco Silva has to ensure his side reach that kind of level from now on. 

Indeed, the Toffees would have surprised many with their solid defending to keep title challengers and rivals Liverpool to a goalless draw and it was an excellent reason for Toffee supporters to be satisfied with a result again. Obviously, not true Evertonian is going to sit there and say they’re happy with the distinct lack of quality on show during the first-half, but Rome wasn’t built in a day.

Marco Silva’s men haven’t had the best of seasons and have been struggling to back good performances up with some consistency.

But, getting a positive result against the Reds should spark heaps of optimism in the Everton camp and it is the perfect opportunity for Silva and his players to get a couple of wins under their belt and finish the season in a strong position. Having praised the Goodison support for their voice during Sunday’s game, the Portuguese now needs to prove he’s worthy of their continued backing.

Everton are all but out of the run for a spot in next season’s Europa League and currently sit tenth in the Premier League.

They do, however, owe their fans a good conclusion of the season to show the amount of money spent on new recruits last summer was not a waste at all.

And, this coming weekend’s clash with Newcastle United at St James’s Park could be the perfect opportunity to play fluent and attacking football again. It is the ideal chance for Silva to let his players go out onto the pitch and play with absolute freedom.

The likes of Lucas Digne and Bernard have shown what a threat they can be going forward on the left flank and they could cause the Magpies a lot of problems on Saturday.

Everton still have a couple of difficult fixtures to look ahead to before the end of the season with matches against Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur still coming up.

It should, however, not put the team off and should rather motivate them to make a final hard push to show their quality and aspirations to the rest of the league.

Ultimately, their performance against Liverpool will count for nothing if they can’t raise their game, the recent upturn will mean next to nothing.

وواصل: “لقد بدأنا الموسم بمباراة صعبة ضد ليدز يونايتد، لقد كانت مباراة مفتوحة، حيث يُمكن أنّ يحدث أي شيء، المباراة انتهت 4-3 وكانت مباراة جيدة لمحبي كرة القدم بشكل عام، ولكنها كانت مباراة صعبة حقًا”.

وأتم: “ثم واجهنا تشيلسي خارج ملعبنا، وهو خصم صعب حقًا، ونحن لعبنا بطريقة جيدة أمامهم، وأعجبت بما فعلناه حقًا، أحببت الطريقة التي لعبنا بها ودافعنا بها أيضًا، وأحببت عقليتنا أمام تشيلسي، أعتقد أننا عدنا إلى المسار الصحيح مرة أخرى”.

انتهت الجولة الرابعة من منافسات الدوري الإسباني بمواجهة شهدت فوز برشلونة على سيلتا فيجو بثلاثية دون رد.

West Ham United fans are experiencing quite frustrating form, aren’t they?

Despite winning big one week, they end up undoing their good work the next. Consistency’s rarely been the name of the game for Manuel Pellegrini’s side this season. Indeed, the crushing loss away to Cardiff City tarnished any chances of building momentum.

While there are many departments at fault for their lack of consistency, the biggest is the lack of a proper striker. Marko Arnautovic’s lost confidence in the manager after his January antics and, beyond him, the Hammers lack a proper goal-scorer.

Javier Hernandez is included in this, as he’s been unable to find his Manchester United form during his time at East London. Chicharito’s only scored 5 goals in 21 appearances so far, which is not at all good for a side looking for a top-half finish.

Having missed 7 big chances throughout the season (stats via Premier League) and being unable to spark the attack with much contribution, Chicharito’s often been a sitting duck in attack. While his predatorial instincts cannot be questioned, his relentless hunger to score goals doesn’t seem to be remaining anymore.

The Mexican isn’t the sparkling, quick figure he was at United anymore and has lost that unpredictability about him. He also isn’t able to create much for West Ham as the solo striker, while his hold-up play and ability to fend off defenders has also weakened.

A player who’s lost that deadly finishing touch, Chicharito’s failures this season signal the need of replacing him with someone better soon.

وتُقام المباراة في تمام الساعة الثامنة والربع مساءً بتوقيت “القاهرة” على ملعب “فيلا بارك”، بقيادة الحكم مارتن أتكنسون.

وستتوقف كرة القدم المحلية في إنجلترا لمدة أسبوعين بعد انتهاء تلك المباراة، بسبب تجمع المنتخبات الدولي، ولن يعود الدوري الإنجليزي سوى يوم 17 أكتوبر.

وتحدث كلوب عن إمكانية الدفع ببعض البدلاء لإراحة النجوم بسبب سفرهم لمنتخبات بلدهم في الساعات المقبلة في تصريحات نقلتها شبكة “ليفربول إيكو” الإنجليزية، وقال: “لا أخطط للدفع بالبدلاء في تلك بالمباراة”.

وتابع: “لن يؤثر علينا التجمع الدولي المقبل، سنخوض المباراة بشكل طبيعي”.

وأضاف: “سيخوض اللاعبون مباراتهم القادمة مع منتخب بلادهم بعد 4 أيام، لذلك ليس لديهم أي مشكلة في لعب مباراة اليوم، كان الأمر ليكون مختلفًا إذا كان الجميع سيبدأ سفره بعد المباراة مباشرة لكن عليهم اللعب في جميع أنحاء العالم وهذه هي طبيعة كرة القدم”.

وواصل تصريحاته: “هناك لاعبون لديهم رحلات ممتعة، 30 ساعة من السفر يذهبون من خلالها من بلد إلى أخرى”.

وأتم: “لكني لن أدفع بالبدلاء، لأنني أتخذ القرارات المناسبة التي ستساعدنا في تلك المباراة”.

Injury: that short, unmistakable word; the heart wrenching ping, snap, twist, pull, tear or break.

It is a harsh reality sportsmen must face when competing at the highest level: that their bodies could, at any point, give in on them.

The tragic event which could befall anyone – the end of their career as they know it, at least.

Louis Saha is one of these people, one of the unfortunate few that were chosen and could do little to battle their way through the trials and tribulations of recovery.

The former Manchester United man made the switch from Craven Cottage to Old Trafford in 2004¸ presumably full of hope and anticipation for his then fledging career at one of the world’s most iconic clubs.

At 25-years-of-age there were no immediate signs of ill-health or physical fatigue – he was in the prime of his career, having already established himself as a talent at his former club Fulham, netting an impressive 26 league goals in 73 appearances.

From January to the end of the season Louis Saha was everything Manchester United could have hoped for.

He released some of the immense pressure which had been piling on Ruud van Nistelrooy in the wake of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s injury, scoring seven times in 12 Premier League appearances.

It truly was very promising stuff.

But fate reared its ugly head and cruelly struck the forward down the following season.

Saha would spend a month out of action after picking up an injury on international duty – a largely unnecessary risk players faced during the period of obsolete ‘friendly’ matches, pre-UEFA Nations League.

He returned but was never the same. Indeed, like with most injuries, players carry scarring; not the kind you can see, but the type that harbours itself inside the players head – those niggling worries that the injury may hit again.

And it did – a savage blow of stark similarity rained upon him – the same infliction under the very same circumstances on international duty.

He would spend two months out.

And again. Three months sidelined at the start of the following season.

In an amazing display of defiance Saha would return and re-establish himself in the first-team scoring 15 goals during the 2005/06 campaign, later replacing the outbound Ruud van Nistelrooy, who joined Real Madrid in summer 2006.

Saha burdened the responsibility well. He had become the player Manchester United initially invested in; the pacey, mercurial, goalscoring talent that belonged in the starting line-up.

There was some consistency about his game until he was hit with more complication – this time affecting his groin and hamstring.

A single, paltry goal would sit solitarily alone on Saha’s record that season – a sad indication that the injuries had taken their toll.

An absence from Manchester United’s famous Champions League victory would be the final nail in the coffin for Saha, and he would agree to be moved on later that year.

Injuries would ultimately hamper his career at Everton, Sunderland and Lazio, where he eventually retired.

When asked by Shortlist who the best forward he played with was Wayne Rooney answered: “That’s so hard. There are so many… [thinks hard] I’m going to say Louis Saha. He’s a fantastic player; a real handful for anyone and I just really enjoyed playing off him. He was so lively and made great runs in behind. Always making space for others.”

This is both a testament to his quality and the catastrophic turn his career took.
