Crystal Palace should move for this Championship ace in the January window

Crystal Palace came away from a tough trip to Old Trafford at the weekend with a valuable point in their fight against relegation.

The Eagles put in a resolute defensive display to prove they can mix it with the best in the top flight and manager Roy Hodgson will hope to use it as a platform to build on going into the winter months.

However, there’s definitely scope for further improvement in the Palace squad, and we at the Tavern think signing a few players in January could be a big move for the club.

Indeed, one player we think the club should look to sign is Norwich City star, Teemu Pukki.

The Finland star has been one of the standout performers for the Canaries as they have romped to the top of the Championship under Daniel Farke, surprising many along the way.

Pukki has been key to that success, smashing in nine goals already to enhance his reputation as someone to be feared in the second tier.

Palace are desperate for some goals, and signing someone in form like Pukki could well prove to be a shrewd move for the Eagles as they look to maintain their Premier League status once again.

Palace fans, what do you think? Good signing? Let us know in the comments!

2 Bournemouth players who’d fit right in at Arsenal

Arsenal’s season under Unai Emery has taken many by surprise, with the Gunners adapting quickly to their new manager and playing some lovely football.

Emery has managed to get the best out of some of his top players already, and the form of the likes of Aubameyang and Lacazette has much to be admired about.

For Bournemouth, their season is also going well, and manager Eddie Howe is once again doing a sterling job of getting the best out of his squad, drawing plenty of plaudits from the world of football.

It’s for that reason that we at the Tavern think that the Cherries have one or two players who might well fit in nicely with Arsenal, and there is little doubt that there will be plenty of prying eyes on the Vitality Stadium this season as they continue to impress.

With that in mind, we’ve taken a look and identified TWO Bournemouth players who’d fit right in at Arsenal…

Nathan Ake

The Gunners have struggled at the back at times over the last few seasons, and the former Chelsea defender has been in superb form this time around for the Cherries.

Since making the move to get regular first team football, Ake has had his decision to leave Stamford Bridge more than justified.

A class act, and only getting better, Ake would be a superb addition for the Gunners.

David Brooks

What a signing this is proving to be for Eddie Howe, as the former Sheffield United man continues to improve and impress in the top flight.

The Welsh attacking midfielder has more potential than most in the Premier League, and if he can keep developing as he is, the sky really is the limit.

Brooks would be a superb addition for Arsenal, and there’s little doubt he complements their own style already.

Liverpool fans on Twitter react to Trent Alexander-Arnold’s derby day celebrations

[ad_pod ]Liverpool youngster Trent Alexander-Arnold delighted fans on Sunday with his passionate celebrations during and after the win against Stanley Park rivals Everton. The 20-year-old, who was born and raised in the West Derby suburb of Liverpool, was the only Scouser in the starting line-up of both teams in the derby, and supporters were able to see just how much the win meant to him.During the game, both teams had gilt-edged chances to score and it was a surprise that neither side had broken the deadlock when injury time came around. With 96 minutes on the clock though, Virgil van Dijk’s sliced volley bounced twice on the top of the bar before falling into the path of the gambling Divock Origi for the Belgian to nod home. With the perplexed-looking Liverpool players initially celebrating by the penalty spot, Alexander-Arnold, who is valued at £31.5m by Transfermarkt, took off for the Kop and the rest of the Reds followed to enjoy the moment with their jubilant fans. After the game, fans on Twitter were loving watching the youngster’s celebrations back, and many were even calling for him to be a future captain of the club. Between The Lines: Klopp hints Ralph Hasenhuttl would be his ideal Liverpool successor

[ad_pod ]

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp praised new Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl during his pre-match Burnley press conference on Tuesday.

The German, who managed Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga, was asked about his opinion on the 51-year-old, who led RB Leipzig to second and sixth-place finishes respectively in Germany’s top division before parting company with them at the end of the 2017/18 campaign.

The Austrian had been out of work since then but has now taken the reins at the Premier League strugglers, who sacked Mark Hughes on Monday following a run of just one win 14 top flight matches this term.

What did Klopp say?

According to quotes reported by The Daily Echo, the 51-year-old said:

“Tall guy, a good guy as well.

“Very lively football, very aggressive, pressing, actually very lively approach I would say.

“A good guy and Southampton, how I heard it, is a nice city.

“It sounds like a win-win situation.”

How could his comments be interpreted?

Well, while Klopp clearly feels that Hasenhuttl is a good appointment for Southampton, his description of him within these quotes is surely not too far away from a description of himself.

It is clear that the Austrian has a similar brand and style of football to his at Liverpool, and the fact that he says it is a “win-win situation” more than suggests that he has huge respect for his new managerial rival – of course helped by the fact that he helped current Reds star Naby Keita become the star that he is during their time together at Leipzig.

While some Liverpool fans won’t ever want Klopp to leave it will happen eventually, and given the Merseyside outfit have shown that they aren’t afraid to prise players away from Saints, the German’s comments perhaps recommend their new boss could be next.

Everton hope to sell Niasse in January, fans react

[ad_pod ]

Loads of Everton fans have been reacting to an update on the future of Oumar Niasse, as reports claim the Toffees will actively try to sell the striker in January.

According to The Liverpool Echo, Everton are looking to sell Niasse, as the Senegalese striker has not been named in the matchday squad for their last 12 league matches.

Niasse was of course with Marco Silva at Hull City, but it seems the new Toffees’ boss has no room for sentiment, with none of his current strikers really showing they have what it takes.

Former Wigan & Fulham man, Jimmy Bullard recently showed that he’s still got it! Check out the video below...

The report claims Cardiff City are showing interest in a loan move for Niasse, though it is likely that the Toffees will want to offload him permanently.

Plenty of fans have been giving their verdict on the possible exit, and it’s clear to see the 28 year-old has become a bit of a cult hero at Goodison.

With just eight goals in 30 Premier League appearances for the Blues he is certainly not the most gifted striker on Merseyside, but his work rate and passion has endeared him to the Goodison faithful.

[ad_pod ]

Loads of Liverpool fans have been reacting to a potentially huge update, as reports claim the Reds are in talks over a record kit deal with Adidas.

The Reds, who are currently working with New Balance, could potentially be back with Adidas as soon as 2020.

The report claims the club are open to staying with the New Balance, but only if they match the money on the table from Adidas.

The current deal with the American kit company is reportedly worth just £45m-a-year, meaning they would have to cough up at least another £30m per year to even be in with a shout.

Fans are delighted with the news, as the Adidas kits from the 2000s are some of the most loved in the club’s history, and it also shows the Reds are well and truly back amongst the big boys both on and off the pitch.

Andy Carroll’s time at West Ham will be up if Graziano Pelle arrives at the London Stadium

[ad_pod ]

According to TuttomercatoWeb, West Ham are interested in taking former Southampton striker Graziano Pelle back to the Premier League to reinforce their attacking options up top.

What’s the word, then?

The Italian international has been playing in the Chinese Super League with Shandong Luneng since 2016 after leaving the Saints. After two sub-par seasons with the club, in which he hit five and seven goals in his first and second campaign respectively, the 33-year-old has hit top form once again with 16 goals in 26 games in his latest season in China.

Pelle scored 30 goals in 81 games for Southampton in just two seasons with the South Coast club and was a huge hit with the St Mary’s faithful, so he wouldn’t need much time to adapt to the Premier League if he were to return to England with the Hammers.

Additionally, if he were to end up in east London, it would surely spell the end of another striker’s career at West Ham in Andy Carroll.

Why would his future be in doubt?

The England international made just seven starts in the league last season, scoring three goals as he spent another year battling injury problems. This season, he is yet to start and has appeared off the bench just three times as Javier Hernandez and Marko Arnautovic are preferred to the former Liverpool striker upfront.

Also, the 29-year-old’s contract is up in the summer and Manuel Pellegrini doesn’t look interested in extending that deal any further, even more so given the fact he is looking for striking reinforcements such as Pelle.

The 6′ 4″ Italian is a similar size and build to the 6′ 3″ Carroll, which further emphasises the fact that the Irons are looking to directly replace the lanky striker with a more reliable option who possesses the same sort of attributes as their injury-stricken forward.

Liverpool fans react to major update on Fekir

Loads of Liverpool fans have been reacting to a tweet from Dominic King, who claimed any potential deal for Nabil Fekir is dead and buried.

Liverpool’s failed summer move for Lyon captain Fekir was one of the more bizarre transfer sagas of recent years, as the move was quite literally on the brink of completion just before the World Cup.

Concerns grew about the player’s knee after the medical though, and the Reds showed no signs of returning for the World Cup winner after the tournament in Russia.

Has Alisson been Liverpool’s most important signing of the season? Check out the video below to find out why Jurgen Klopp thinks so…

Plenty of fans have remained hopeful about a potential deal in January, but Daily Mail reporter King says any reports of another deal for Fekir are “absolute garbage”.

The 25 year-old Lyon superstar has scored nine times and added four assists this season, and there’s no question his creativity and goal threat would make the Reds even more electric going forward.

Despite King’s tweet, loads of fans are pointing to the deals for Virgil van Dijk and Naby Keita, both of which were thought to be dead in the water before eventually coming through.

Bielsa must convince Leeds to splash the cash on Darlow this month

Looking to maintain the spot at the top of the Championship table as Leeds push for Premier League promotion, manager Marcelo Bielsa is keen to see the arrivals of some fresh faces this month.

And according to the Yorkshire Evening Post, the Argentinian coach is pushing the Elland Road hierarchy into making moves for a midfielder and goalkeeper with Newcastle United’s Karl Darlow identified as the main target for the latter position.

The Breakdown

The same outlet, however, reports Newcastle’s £4m valuation of the 28-year-old could force Leeds to look for an alternative shot-stopper with the Championship leaders preferring a loan deal.

Whatever the case, be it Darlow or another goalkeeper, Leeds would be silly not to pursue a deal if that is what Bielsa feels he needs — especially if the money involved is as little as £4m.

Considering what is at stake — Premier League promotion and the vast amount of money that comes with it — it is simply worth paying.

Given the position Leeds currently find themselves in and how they have performed during this campaign, even without any January additions, they should still be in the conversation for promotion come May.

But if Darlow is an absolute necessity for Bielsa, he must do all he can to convince his superiors to bring him to Elland Road, and they must answer that call.

Tottenham fans blast Klopp comments on injuries

[ad_pod ]

Loads of Tottenham fans have been reacting to some rather bizarre comments from Jurgen Klopp, after the Liverpool boss said his Liverpool bench is weaker than “lucky” Tottenham.

Liverpool and Manchester City may not like it, but Tottenham are well and truly in the title race, and Klopp’s mind games on Friday prove that.

The Liverpool boss was asked about his injury problems, as the Reds currently have just one fit centre back in Virgil van Dijk.

Pl>ymaker FC Exclusive: Jermaine Jenas reveals he would have snubbed Tottenham for Arsenal if they’d come knocking in 2005…

“We already have problems. I saw Chelsea vs Tottenham with both benches full, full squads, lucky them,” he saidas his side prepare for a tough test away at Brighton.

While Klopp is right to bemoan the fact that three of his four centre backs are out, Tottenham fans are understandably bemused at his comments as the Lilywhites have suffered with injuries all season.

Key players like Jan Vertonghen, Dele Alli and Serge Aurier have all missed considerable time through injury, and Mauricio Pochettino is currently without Eric Dier, Lucas Moura, Victor Wanyama and Mousa Dembele.

Throw in the fact that Spurs made not a single new signing in the summer, and Klopp’s comments do seem truly bizarre.
