Liverpool fans loved Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s contribution on Sunday

Liverpool were in blistering form on Sunday, blitzing Bournemouth away from home in the English Premier League.

Jurgen Klopp’s side surged to a 4-0 win thanks to goals from Mohamed Salah, Philippe Coutinho, Dejan Lovren and Roberto Firmino.

It was an important three points after drawing their two previous matches at home to West Bromwich Albion and Everton.

Despite the goal heroes stealing the headlines, there was only one name on Liverpool supporters’ lips by the end of evening and that was Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

While he performed expertly during the match, it was his post-match interview that seemed to impress people most.

In a video that quickly went viral, he rushed to the defence of teammate Coutinho, who had to field a question regarding his future at the club, which the England international felt was unfair.

Supporters absolutely loved his actions and off the back of another impressive performance on the pitch in a Liverpool shirt, he is now rapidly becoming a fan favourite at Anfield.

Fans took to Twitter to share their thoughts on it all…

HYS: Should Marcus Rashford start vs Man City?

With Manchester City already developing an almost unassailable lead at the division’s summit, the Manchester Derby this weekend is not only the most important fixture in Manchester United’s season so far but also the 2017/18 Premier League season.

In a nutshell, if United don’t win this weekend it will be incredibly difficult for anybody to catch the Citizens, even if there will still be more than 20 games left to go, and the feeling of inevitability surrounding the title race will only further grow.

Accordingly, it’s vital Jose Mourinho gets his team selection spot on at Old Trafford this Sunday and perhaps the biggest points of contention are in attack. Romelu Lukaku has scored just twice in his last 13 games while Anthony Martial has averaged a goal or assist every 64 minutes in the top flight and Zlatan Ibrahimovic has returned from a lengthy injury.

Then there’s the not-so-small matter of Marcus Rashford, United’s 20-year-old forward whose stunning rise owes much to a goal in the Manchester derby during the early stages of his senior career. Local-born academy products always tend to bring that extra few percent into derby games, so would you start the England international – who Transfermarkt value at £27million – this weekend?

Leeds fans divided on Britt Assombalonga

Leeds United have been linked with a move for Middlesbrough forward Britt Assombalonga according to The Northern Echo.

The 25-year-old only moved to the Riverside last summer from Nottingham Forest and enjoyed a fine start to the season under Garry Monk.

He made 34 appearances over the course of the season, scoring 15 goals.

However he wasn’t favoured so much by Monk’s replacement Tony Pulis and it now appears he could be on his way out of the club, with Leeds, Nottingham Forest, Swansea City and Birmingham City interested in signing the lethal finisher.

The Congolese international is valued at £10.8million on Transfermarkt and following a reported training ground bust-up with Pulis, it looks like he could be set for a move away this summer to one of the many Championship clubs targeting him.

Leeds fans have been reacting to the transfer speculation on social media and here’s a selection of some of their best comments.

Tottenham fans react to Vida speculation

Tottenham Hotspur have moved ahead of Liverpool in the race to sign Besiktas defender Domagoj Vida this summer, according to A Spor.

The centre-back played over 40 league games for Dinamo Zagreb ahead of a move to Dynamo Kiev in 2013, and was very impressive during his five and a half seasons in Ukraine.

It is understood that Vida has simply not settled at Besiktas following a transfer from Dynamo Kiev back in January, however, and Everton have also been credited with an interest.

According to A Spor though, Tottenham are at the head of the queue, with the London club said to have bid in the region of £16m.

Vida is currently in action for Croatia at the 2018 World Cup, and will be looking to help his team overcome England in the semi-finals of the competition on Wednesday night.

The Tottenham fans have been reacting to the latest transfer speculation, and it would be fair to say that they are not too impressed.

Missing out on Mohamed Eisa would be a huge blow to Sunderland

Sunderland have been busy making a number of changes to their squad this summer as they look forward to the upcoming League One campaign.
With Jack Ross at the helm, Sunderland fans will be hoping that their two-year relegation run will be halted. Moreover, under the control of Steward Donald, the club seems as though it may be starting to turn in the right direction.
One player who’s been linked with the club recently is League Two striker, Mohamed Eisa. According to Gloucestershire Live, Sunderland have had a bid rejected by Cheltenham and according to the report,  an unnamed Championship club has joined the race to sign the striker, while Portsmouth have also shown an interest.

The Breakdown

Cheltenham are apparently holding out for a bid of £1.5 million has attracted interest from multiple clubs due to his outstanding season last year.

As it stands, Sunderland only have Chris Maguire and Josh Maja on the books as forwards and desperately need a striker to fire them to promotion next year.

A late bloomer, Eisa only made the step up to professional football last season following playing for Isthmian League Greenwich Borough.

Some might expect the striker to struggle but he excelled and was awarded the supporters’ and players’ ‘player of the year’. The club hasn’t got much to spend this summer but Stewart Donald needs to splash the cash to bring the forward in or risk not having any top class striker to play for the club this season.

Sunderland fans – thoughts?

Everton must say no to Chelsea again and reject any approach for Pickford

Since billionaire Farhad Moshiri became majority shareholder, Everton have spent big money on transfers.

Unfortunately for Everton supporters, though, most of those big-money arrivals have been flops.

One player, however, who has proven himself since moving to Goodison Park, is Jordan Pickford.

The 24-year-old was arguably England’s best player at the World Cup and is now attracting interest from Chelsea.

The Breakdown

The Sun reports the former Premier League champions are eyeing up both Pickford and his England team-mate Jack Butland if — as expected — Thibaut Courtois joins Real Madrid.

Selling £31.5m-rated (via Transfermarkt) Pickford, especially considering the club now have significant financial backing from Moshiri, would be disastrous for Everton.

If not already, the former Sunderland shot-stopper is well on his way to becoming one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League.

Everton have a project centred around qualifying for the Champions League; constant sells of key assets will only hold the club back and send the wrong kind of message to supporters.

That being said and, although they were eventually sold, the Toffees did well to fight off Chelsea in the past when they tried to sign both John Stones and Romelu Lukaku.

And it is that sort of fight that Everton will once again need to show if Chelsea come knocking and try to lure Pickford away from Goodison Park this summer.

Much is expected from new manager Marco Silva, but the Portuguese coach needs the appropriate conditions to succeed, which means Pickford or any other player he sees as key must be retained.

Perfect Malcom alternative: Buying Bailey would improve Everton’s wing play massively

Everton are looking to get the ball rolling in this transfer window, but one player the club is set to miss out on is Malcom.

Malcom had been a target for the Toffees, but the Brazilian winger looks to be on his way to AS Roma with the Serie A side having agreed personal terms with the player and offered £31m to Bordeaux, according to Sky Sports.

The Breakdown

Losing out on Malcom would be a disappointment; the 21-year-old is of the quality to help Everton reach that next level and is the type of player to bring excitement to Goodison Park.

However, Everton have the finances to chase an alternative of equal ability, and one possible candidate could be Bayer Leverkusen’s Leon Bailey.

Bailey, who is valued at £40.5m by Transfermarkt, has attracted interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs including Chelsea (via Evening Standard).

The Blues, nor any other club, are yet to move for Bailey though and having seemingly missed out on Malcom, Everton should now go all out for the 20-year-old.

Bailey – dangerous on both flanks – is capable of dribbling and breezing past full-backs and has a very powerful shot on him.

The Jamaican is also becoming a threat from dead-ball situations and, overall, would be an upgrade on Everton’s current crop of wingers.

Bayer Leverkusen are likely to demand a very high fee, while Chelsea’s interest cannot be ignored, but Bailey is a player that Everton should pursue, especially with Malcom Roma bound.

Everton should make ambitious Bakayoko move

According to Calciomercato, Everton are still interested in signing Inter Milan attacker Joao Mario this summer, but the Toffees should instead be looking to bring Chelsea midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko to the club.

What’s the story?

Everton have finally started to make moves in the transfer market, and more new arrivals are expected before the 2018-19 Premier League campaign gets underway.

It is understood that Toffees boss Marco Silva wants to play a 4-3-3 formation next season, with two holding midfielders operating alongside Gylfi Sigurdsson.

According to Calciomercato, Silva sees Mario as a player capable of fitting into his preferred system, and will attempt to sign the Inter midfielder this summer.

Mario spent the second half of last season on loan at West Ham United, but it would be fair to say that he did not really set the Premier League alight.

And with Inter wanting to sell rather than loan the Portugal international, Everton should switch their interest to Chelsea’s Bakayoko.

Bakayoko? Didn’t he struggle last season?

It would be fair to say that Bakayoko struggled to make his mark at Chelsea last season, but there is no question that the Frenchman is a talent.

[brid autoplay=”true” video=”273047″ player=”12034″ title=”Power Ranking the 1819 Premier League kits”]

The 23-year-old – valued at £36m by Transfermarkt – could be made surplus to requirements at Chelsea this summer following the arrival of Maurizio Sarri as head coach.

Bakayoko might have struggled last term, but he still made 43 appearances in all competitions for his London club, and it is worth remembering that he was very impressive during his time at Monaco.

The midfielder needs an arm around his shoulder and a little bit of direction, and there is no reason why Silva could not get the best out of the powerhouse next season.

It would be somewhat of a risky move, but Everton’s director of football Marcel Brands needs to make a statement signing this summer, and should move for a player with a point to prove.

Revealed: 73% of Newcastle fans want Mina to replace Lejeune

Newcastle are in desperate need of another centre back after the injury to Florian Lejeune, and nearly three quarters of fans want to move for Yerry Mina.

Both Everton and Newcastle are dangerously short of quality centre backs, and the Toffees have been looking to atone for that by signing Barcelona’s Mina.

The towering Colombian stunned everyone by scoring three headed goals at the World Cup, and is looking for a move away from the Spanish champions to find more regular playing time.

[brid autoplay=”true” video=”274435″ player=”12034″ title=”Rafa Benitez Deserves More Respect At Newcastle”]

According to GOAL.com, Everton have turned their attentions to Marcos Rojo after Barcelona refused to budge from their £35m asking price though, so this could be the perfect time for Newcastle to swoop in.

Obviously Mike Ashley is not going to splash out £35m, but there were talks of a loan for Mina earlier this summer, and it could be best for all parties.

Mina would get regular playing time under a great manager in a very competitive league, and by the time he returns to Catalonia next summer Lejeune will have recovered from his cruciate ligament injury.

The 6 ft 4 ace would form an absolutely beastly partnership with Jamaal Lascelles, and 73 per cent of fans are backing a swoop.

Selling Aleksandar Mitrovic could undermine successful incomers

Newcastle and Rafa Benitez alike will have mixed thoughts about their transfer business, have they done enough to firstly secure their Premier League status or could they even build on their 10th place finish?

That question can be properly answered in around ten months time but now there is nothing the Magpies can do until January, should their signings not be adequate.

Despite the reported £27m they recouped for his sale, Newcastle could regret selling Aleksandar Mitrovic due to their lack of firepower up-front.

In what was a problem for the Magpies for the entirety of last season, they used the transfer window to get rid of their top goalscoring forward, albeit the goals were bagged in the Championship.

Mitrovic was sent on-loan to Fulham from January and played a massive part in allowing the Cottagers to gain promotion. Such was his impressive form, Fulham shelled out a lot of money to retain the Serbian on a permanent basis.

Newcastle have since signed Rondon from relegated West Brom which could turn out to be a masterstroke but to have sold Mitrovic to a fellow Premier League club in Fulham has the potential to come back and haunt the Magpies.

The young Serbian impressed during the World Cup and given another chance at St James’ Park, Aleksandar Mitrovic could have become the cult hero many fans had hoped for when he joined the club in the first place.

Rafa Benitez has barely been rewarded for his superb 10th finish last season as Mike Ashley continues to play hardball with his cash. It can only be a matter of time before the Spaniard gets fed up and wants out of the club at this rate and selling a young, promising striker could be the tipping point for Benitez.

Are Newcastle right to sell for £27 million or could Mitrovic have been a good player for the Magpies this season… Let us know!
