Leeds fans loved Adam Forshaw’s performance against Brentford

[ad_pod ]

Adam Forshaw has been hailed by a number of Leeds United fans for his performance in the 1-0 win over Brentford on Wednesday night.

Eddie Nketiah scored the game’s only goal in the 81st minute as the on-loan forward added to the strike that he managed in the EFL Cup against Salford City.

However, it was the performance of Forshaw in the middle of the park that really captured the attention of the club’s fans.

According to WhoScored, the 27-year-old had a pass success rate of 95% during his 90 minutes on the field, which is an indication of his calmness on the ball.

It was a match where Marcelo Bielsa’s side had to grind out the three points rather than play open, expansive football against the Bees.

And Forshaw’s contribution in a key area of the field has been recognised with many of the Leeds fans taking to social media to lavish praise on him.

Manchester United fans react to update on potential Jadon Sancho move next summer

[ad_pod ]

One of the hottest prospects in European football at the moment, it’s fair to say Jadon Sancho has set the Bundesliga alight since his move to Borussia Dortmund.

The England international has been on fire for the German side, and notched up 13 goals and 19 assists across all competitions last season.

The winger has been linked with a move back to English football in recent months, and it now appears as though the 19-year-old could be doing just that sooner rather than later.

The Daily Mail claim Sancho is set to leave Dortmund next summer and that the German side have already started the process of finding a replacement for the attacker.

The report adds Manchester United are the “most advanced” in their pursuit of the teenager, but will face competition from Manchester City and a host of Europe’s top sides.

After hearing the update on a possible move for Sancho, United fans took to Twitter to share their thoughts on the matter.

Many supporters of the Manchester side threw their backing behind a potential swoop and suggested Sancho “ticks all the boxes” as a transfer target.

Other more pessimistic fans admitted they didn’t have confidence in their club to pull such a deal off, and declared Ed Woodward would fail to deliver on expectations.

Real Madrid fans react to transfer report on Paul Pogba

Recent reports coming out of Marca suggest that Real Madrid, and Zinedine Zidane in particular, still haven’t given up on the idea of signing Paul Pogba this summer.

Whether that is a good idea or not is debatable but the same source claims that Manchester United are asking for €200m, which is about £181.6m.

One way or the other, that sum of money is ridiculous even for Pogba’s standards and especially for Real Madrid’s wallet since they have already spent quite a bit this summer with the purchase of Eden Hazard and co.

And the fans also don’t really seem convinced by this as they have taken to Twitter to express their thoughts.

Below, you can see a collection of tweets showing how they actually feel about this new update regarding the transfer of the Frenchman. A few have insisted the club don’t need Pogba while some believe, simply, that the deal won’t be happening.

Marca also stated that Real could sign Christian Eriksen or Donny van de Beek but Zidane seems to have made up his mind, and the fans are not liking it one bit.

Tottenham fans hated Davinson Sanchez’s showing against Arsenal

[ad_pod ]

Davinson Sanchez had a tough afternoon at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

Injuries meant that the Colombia international – firmly a central defender by trade – was deployed at right-back for Tottenham Hotspur away at Arsenal in the Premier League.

Spurs ultimately claimed a point in the North London derby which, all things considered, is far from a disastrous result under the current circumstances, having previously lost to Newcastle and conceded an incredible 30 shots away to Manchester City.

According to WhoScored, Sanchez made just one successful tackle, was dispossessed on three occasions and had a pass success rate of just 68%.

It was a tough 90 minutes for the 23-year-old, particularly when considering that Arsenal’s strength is firmly in the final third of the field rather than at the opposite end.

The Spurs fans were far from pleased with what they saw from the South American at the Emirates Stadium, with many taking to social media to blast his performance.

West Ham’s Robert Snodgrass proves he’s no longer up to the task in Scotland loss

[ad_pod ]

This article is part of Football FanCast’s In Numbers series, which takes a statistical look at performances, season-long form and reported transfer targets…

While it was always going to be a tough game against Belgium, Scotland international Robert Snodgrass looked to have the perfect opportunity to prove to West Ham United manager Manuel Pellegrini why he should be starting on the right wing in Michail Antonio’s injury absence.

He may have got the nod against Brighton, but it was Andriy Yarmolenko that featured in the XI there in the subsequent wins against Watford and Norwich City, scoring against the latter.

Snodgrass therefore could have done with a positive showing on Monday to stake his claim for a spot in the east London outfit’s side that looks to be firmly up for grabs, but he failed to take it and was even slated by Scotland fans for his display.

While you can never question the £10.2m man’s endeavour and high work rate, he does often leave a lot to be desired when it comes to showing some actual quality.

Granted, he did have an impressive passing accuracy of 93% against Roberto Martinez’s men, as per SofaScore, but he also came up short in many other areas.

For example, he committed five fouls – more than anyone else on the pitch – and lost possession on 14 occasions – more times than any of his teammates.

He failed to impress from an attacking sense either when his country needed him, with just one of his eight crosses proving to be accurate on a day when Scotland needed to be at their best to get anything.

As we mentioned previously, Snodgrass has some attributes that make him an attractive proposition for a manager – and one that Pellegrini has heavily utilised in the past – but his latest international display was just another sign that he should be a fringe player and nothing more at West Ham from here on in.

If the Irons really are serious about breaking into the top six in the Premier League, they need players on the pitch with proven quality, and the 32-year-old simply doesn’t cut the mustard any longer.

Real Madrid dropped the ball by taking off Casemiro and Sergio Ramos

This article is part of Football FanCast’s The Chalkboard series, which provides a tactical insight into teams, players, managers, potential signings and more…

Real Madrid fans ended up going through some genuine drama this weekend when Levante were welcomed to Santiago Bernabeu.

Los Blancos did take all three points in the end but Zinedine Zidane’s decision to give Casemiro and Sergio Ramos their rest almost cost them the game on Saturday.

On the chalkboard

The clash couldn’t have started better for Real.

By the time the teams were sent to the locker room for half-time, the Galacticos were already 3-0 up and seemingly with another impressive victory in the bag. But Levante had other ideas.

In the second half, it was all about the guests and their efforts to claw their way back into the game, fighting to salvage a nigh-on miraculous point.

Even though they somehow managed to reduce the gap to 3-2, they just couldn’t muster enough strength for one final push and one final goal to get the draw on the night. Still, they were close and Real completely crumbled defensively in that second half.

And taking into consideration that Zidane decided to rest Casemiro and Ramos by taking them off early, it really isn’t that big of a surprise.

A risk worth taking?

Both Casemiro and Ramos were subbed off on the hour mark as Zidane didn’t want to risk them sustaining an injury. On paper, that’s fair enough.

It’s something the Frenchman acknowledged in his post-match press conference and looking at the players who are already sidelined for Real Madrid, it really didn’t seem worth the risk. But on the other hand, that single decision almost cost them the entire game.

Of course, the Galacticos conceded one goal before the duo were taken off but the remainder of the second half was extremely difficult for them as a whole. Five of Levante’s eight shots came after the substitution and resulted in one additional goal.

This becomes more visible when we take into account their contribution to the team prior to them leaving the pitch. Casemiro tallied two tackles, one interception and three clearances while Ramos had one tackle, one interception and two clearances.

Quite clearly, both were doing their part in the defensive phase of the game.

The decision to take them off weakened the XI significantly and even though Zidane was just playing it safe, it was still a substitution that almost lost them the three points on Saturday.

That they got over the line was more by luck than judgement.

Leeds fans will love what Gary Neville tweeted about FA Cup defeat

[ad_pod ]Many Leeds United supporters will take any opportunity to get one over on Manchester United, and luckily for the Elland Road faithful, they’ve been gifted a chance to gloat by one of the long-standing symbols of Sir Alex Ferguson’s side.Indeed, Gary Neville named his performance against Leeds in the FA Cup in 2010 as his worst ever individual display, calling it embarrassing.

United fans will love reading this from the Sky Sports pundit.

The former England international hasn’t been coy about the fact he hates Leeds United throughout his career, so for him to still be haunted by the 1-0 loss nine years ago will certainly satisfy a few members of the fanbase.

Of course, not a single Whites supporter will have forgotten that day. Jermaine Beckford scored the only goal of the game as the then League One side eliminated the reigning Premier League champions.

Neville clearly still has bad memories from that game, and that will cause a certain amount of smugness in Yorkshire.

Leeds ace Mateusz Klich paints a sorry picture during Derby draw

[ad_pod ]

Leeds’ draw with Derby on Saturday was completely baffling.

The Whites were the dominant side and that’s probably putting things lightly.

They managed 132 passes in the opposition third by the time the break came around, eventually mustering over 60% of the possession.

Phillip Cocu’s men had just four shots in the entire game and even scored Leeds’ goal as the hosts took the lead courtesy of Max Lowe’s strike into his own net.

However, Leeds’ luck in front of their own fans went from bad to worse as Chris Martin’s late equaliser meant the points were shared.

Elland Road witnessed more drama between Marcelo Bielsa’s men and the Rams following the 4-2 result in the playoffs.

This was entertaining for different reasons, however, as they failed to win at home once again.

A number of weeks ago against Swansea, Leeds had 21 shots and over 60% of the possession again and lost. For many reasons, this was another similar display, even if they did actually come away from the game with a point.

But what was so incredible was that Leeds didn’t win given their dominance.

Patrick Bamford hit the post in the second half while Mateusz Klich also missed a penalty.

This was clearly the turning point in the game and Klich’s reaction to missing paints a picture of a thousand words.

The Pole stepped up confidently and fired home in assuring fashion from 12 yards against Barnsley just six days previous but this was a woeful effort.

In fact, he almost looked too confident as he strode up and consequently missed.

After skewing his spot-kick past the post, the midfielder stood dejected. If Leeds had scored they surely would have gone onto win the game.

Instead, they were made to pay the price.

Arsenal fans call Tottenham "bottlers" following their Carabao Cup exit

[ad_pod ]To say it was an embarrassing night for Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday would be an understatement.Against League Two opposition in Colchester United, Spurs really would have expected to put the Us to the sword in the Carabao Cup.However, despite enjoying 75% possession and having 19 shots to Colchester’s four, they were unable to find a way past their defence, and so the game went to penalties.Watch Arsenal Live Streams With StreamFootball.tv Below

And it was the lower league side who held their nerve.

By winning 4-3 on spot-kicks, they claimed the huge scalp of a Premier League side, one that reached the Champions League final last term.

Premier League fans up and down the country will have likely had a chuckle to themselves, but Arsenal supporters have taken particular joy in Spurs’ defeat.

For many, this was proof that their north London rivals are “bottlers”, and they took to Twitter to share their insight. You can see some of the best comments from the social media platform below.

Leicester legend Gary Lineker shows his excitement over Foxes’ start to the season

Gary Lineker is getting excited about Leicester’s hopes after a good start to the season, where have we heard that one before? The Foxes legend has every right to be over the moon with how his local side have begun this campaign, as Brendan Rodgers’ team have lost only once in their opening seven Premier League matches.

The Foxes now sit third in the table behind Liverpool and Manchester City, and Lineker had a message to send to both of those clubs after the Foxes beat Newcastle 5-0.

Lineker clearly has his sights set on another Premier League title for the East Midlands club.

This is quite a strange tweet to interpret. On one hand, Liverpool and Man City are far and away the best teams in the division, amassing a combined 195 points last year.

However, Leicester City have a history of causing these types of upsets. They’re only two points behind Man City, and they’ve got a young and talented squad that could feasibly beat any team in the division.
